The publisher states that "gold purchased through OSRS Gold is a problem in any online game with the ability to trade currency" The company also states that its "Anti-Cheating Team has been doing a lot to combat RWT sellers both inside and out of the game" but it is taking more drastic measures with immediate effective.

With a "growing team and enhanced tools", Jagex says it is not just targeting sellers of gold and other resources through RWT but also buyers. Its goal is to cut down the demand as well as supply.

Jagex has announced that it will send "messages to players that we've identified who are involved within"RWT" within "the coming hours". "For those who have been involved, we want to make clear that this is the single und only caution," it added.

Other measures the developer is likely to think of as punishment for RWT activity are set to include wealth removal , which is basically eliminating gains from players' accounts on the level of servers - as well as possible bans.

RuneScape's PvP component, dubbed"The Duel Arena, will also have stricter rules in place. Jagex says the feature "has been a flashpoint for the egregious behavior", and that 38 per cent of the bans issued for RWT activities up to now stem from that part to the gameplay. It says that already amounts up to "thousands of bans every month".

So, the developer seems to have chosen the nucleus choice, saying "we're considering in the future to take in the Duel Arena out of RuneScape entirely." Until then the game will take "some small-scale actions" to improve PvP "until our development teams are able to deliver an important update that completely will replace the Duel Arena next year."

They will also have a limit at the maximum amount GP (or gold points) that players can bet on a match at the Duel Arena. Players can bet "no less than 50m GP for each duel". Additional measures aren't described as of yet.
