This gourmet spice blend is made of 18 organic spices,
individually hand roasted and stoneground. This is a traditional blend to
create a perfect Indian soul food – Chickpea potato curry or Amritsari Cholle.
Use this blend to make a delicious, simple, hearty and
satisfying Chickpea curry or chickpeas for a bowl style meal. This blend can

Spices
The organic ingredients have been blended together to
balance the aromatics, warm, sweet, spicy and tangy flavours required in a
chickpea or lentil based dish. Chickpea spice blend is fragrant, and mildly
spicy to the taste (less heat than Garam Masala) with a tang and sweet bitter
taste from Dried Mango powder (Amchur).
Contains Organic Spices - Dried Mango powder (Amchur), Cumin
seed, Coriander seed, Fenugreek seed, Garam Masala, Fennel seed, Turmeric
powder, Red Chilli powder, Green Cardamom, Sweet Paprika, Cinnamon (cassia),
Cloves, Black Pepper, Ginger, Nutmeg and Bay Leaf. The spice blend is sealed in
an amber glass jar immediately after grinding to preserve the freshness.
Garam Masala
Garam Masala literally means ‘a warm spice blend’. It is a
versatile and aromatic blend of roasted and ground spices used extensively in
Indian and South Asian cuisine. It is often said that every family in India had
their own traditional Garam Masala recipe. It is used for the earthy, sweet and
savory, warming flavour and mouth feel – it is not a very hot chilli mix. Garam
Masala combines several common spices in Indian cooking to give a well-rounded
and complex flavour profile.
We handcraft our Garam Masala using organic whole spices and
spice powders, from India and Sri Lanka, to guarantee the purity and quality of
our product. The Garam Masala is formulated to a special, traditional family
recipe, passed down by my grandmother. Balancing the spices is an art which
ensures that all spices work together and no single flavour overpowers the
spice blend.
We freshly dry roast and stoneground the spices, on receipt
of your order, to bring out an intense flavour and aroma by release of the
natural, essential oils in the spices. Stoneground spices have a naturally
uneven, earthy texture that adds to the rustic mouth feel.
The fresh, handcrafted Garam Masala is immediately packed in
a recyclable, amber coloured, glass jar, with an airtight induction seal, to
maximise freshness of the product – you will get a strong whiff of the fresh
spice blend when you open the jar.
Garam Masala
makes a magical difference to a dish by adding sweetness, heat, complexity,
tanginess and texture. Our handcrafted Garam Masala does not contain any chilli
– the warmth comes from the pungent natural essential oils of the spices. It is
best when added towards the end of cooking as a finishing seasoning or it can
be used as a garnish when serving.
Garam Masala spice blend can be used in curries, fish, goat
dishes, hearty vegetable dishes, lentils, lamb, pork, vegetables, beans,
eggplants, potatoes and sweet potatoes, vegetable sauté’s, marinades,
mayonnaise and salad dressings. It is also used to season the flour when baking
bread, sprinkled over cut winter squash before baking, used as a dry rub for
meats before grilling and added to desserts such as ice creams, pies and
