After a lot of start and stop, Lady Shelly has finally managed to complete her mix cd. Over the last two years there have been a lot of projects that she got involved in but for different reasons, nothing surfaced. This has led key people in the industry to say that she is not serious about a career in dancehall and has consequently refused to work with her.
Lady Shelly contends that the reason she has had to constantly put projects off is because of her involvement in other aspects of the business. She says that she has always put her career as a recording artist at the forefront; unfortunately, others did not see it that way. She admits that doing different things in the industry has cost her as far as being an artist goes, but it has also been beneficial to understanding the business side of dancehall.
Lady Shelly affirms that all that is in the pass and she is 100% committed to being a reggae/dancehall artist. The evidence of that is her new compilation, “karamanti mix – volume 1 - resurrection”, which will be available for free download online in approximately two weeks. According to Lady Shelly, doing a free CD of old and new music is her way of apologizing to her fans that wanted more but never got it.
Many radio personalities have called Lady Shelly the most controversial and underrated female artist in dancehall. When asked about those affiliations she simply said, “let’s see what they say after they hear what I’m coming with now”.
Karamanti Mix – Volume 1 “Resurrection” will be available for free download at www.ladyshelly.com on August 1st 2009. |
