Bass Odyssey selector Kevin 'Squingy' Bennett reportedly passed away last night. Doctors pulled the life support plug on the selector who had been breathing with the help of a life support machine after his lungs had collapsed.Keith Walford, owner of Bass Odyssey, confirmed this morning to a reporter that Squingy had died.
Just last week, news surface that Squingy was critically ill and had been hospitalised. According to the statement from the sound system, "A little over five years ago, he was diagnosed with a terminal illness. Although there is no cure he had been receiving adequate treatment in both Jamaica and the United States. At this time we extend gratitude to those who have helped us to support and maintain Squingy's life until now as that in itself is a miracle from the Almighty."
"The doctors explained the situation to Squingy's brother, Keith Lawson, who gave permission for them to take him off life support. His organs had collapsed and he could not breathe on his own. Right now, we are in the process of organising the funeral arrangements. We want to keep something in Alexandria where he lived, and do something in Steer Town where he was born and where his mother was buried," Mr. Walford said.
