As per senior designer Scott Burgess, who recently interviewed GameSpot Diablo 2 Resurrected Items, Blizzard knew following the announcement of the game that players were eager be able to play Diablo Immortal on PC.
With the realization that dedicated PC players would use mobile emulators to access the game for PC regardless, Blizzard began the process of developing the PC version to ensure that players would have an official PC experience. For the reason why it took the time to announce Diablo Immortal for PC, Burgess said it came down to polish.
"Part part of why why we delayed so long was that we wanted to ensure the polish of the game was at a stage where we were pleased with it and happy to release the game concurrently with the mobile launch," Burgess said. "We believe that we're at a really good point."
Diablo Immortal will feature numerous MMO-like elements, such as hub towns that are multiplayer 8-player raids, PvP battlegrounds, as well as the ambitious Cycle of Strife system. These are all firsts for the franchise and some of the features -- like different PvP modes and an online hub town that were born during Diablo's development.
Diablo Immortal's Barbarian follows exactly the same formula that those who have played the game know.
When Diablo Immortal is creating new ground as the first mobile-based and free-to play entry and as a social-focused MMO with live-services, was essential that the game felt like it was a real Diablo experience.
