LaVine was a well-known basketball recruit in his junior year Madden 23 Coins, and Kupp was a star footballer and a solid basketball player who was still seeking a scholarship when he was an older. Kupp's Davis Pirates knocked off LaVine's Bothell Cougars and had the upcoming All-Pro receiver helping lock down the next NBA All-Star. Senior Devonte Luckett led all scorers by scoring 23 points on an impressive shooting record of 11-for-15. Seniors Cooper Kupp and David Trimble each scored 19 and 13 points respectively with the Pirates. Davis used a massive 41-23 rebounding edge to stay in control and extend their lead. Zach Lavine, considered to be the best prospect within the region, held to four points in the opening half. Bothell was unable to find any kind of offensive rhythm to keep up during Thursday's quarterfinal 4A game. Lavine ended the game with 20 points, with the majority of them were scored at times when the game was just out beyond the reach of Bothell. The Cougars could only manage 32.1 percent shooting during the game. We dug up an YouTube film of Kupp discussing the game and the matchup against LaVine. Kupp would then go on to play football for Eastern Washington and eventually emerge as the highest draft selection ever, as a third round selection in the 2017 draft.
