Is that type of creation sustainable or feasible in terms of business WOTLK Classic Gold ? Something like World of Warcraft exists now because of this lengthy phase of having Titan being reworked, and experiencing the ups and lows that come with development. The final product, some time later, is a game which has a broad and powerful appeal. However, is it really feasible to keep the same cycle for every project?
I don't know that us at Blizzard have a choice but to proceed this way. I'm not convinced that there's an alternative for Blizzard. We really believe strongly that the team's management has to believe and have an idea for the game they believe could be great. It's an extremely bottom up approach to doing things.
Blizzard doesn't have a past of Mike [Morhaime], or me or someone else in the top position to say, "Hey, Blizzard should begin to create, invent kind of game." This is not how Blizzard operates. What happens is that a group of programmers who are truly passionate about an idea or specific genre are given the space to create and iterate and produce something that we believe is excellent. It's been that way for as long as it's been, and this is how it is today.
I'm trying find the best way to approach this question without incessantly vilifying Activision. My question is how do you know if the business realities in the present day as your relationship to your parent firm, Activision, such that, you can continue to operate in this manner?
Are you able to say that Blizzard in a position of autonomy to say, "We aren't convinced that this is an excellent idea, so we're going to kill the game, and we're going have to go back to our design board ... there's a chance that you'll not be seeing another game from us for five, ten, or a decade, or whatever it may be? If so, are you currently in the situation where you could do that?
There were some questions that I asked me when Mike was saying, "Hey, you should consider taking on this job." There was a handful of questions I asked him and a handful of questions I had for Bobby [Kotick, CEO of cheap WOW WOTLK Classic Gold Activision], and the other staff members in Activision Blizzard. The topic you're addressing is something that it's really vital to the essence of what it is to be a Blizzard and from standpoint of a developer perspective and also, honestly an individual and a fan perspective.
