As for the rest of the tools a class has, players must select them through the game's ability trees, which remind of the talent trees that were used in the beginning that were the basis of WOTLK Classic Gold MMO. One tree of talent will be for the class as a whole, while another will be specific to a selected specialization of that class. Players will receive their first points for class trees at the age of 10. and their first specialization point at level 11. following which points for each of the trees are awarded for each level of achievement. At stage 70. players have 31 class points as well as 30 specialization points.
That level of freedom will permit what Blizzard calls "very bad designs," though the goal is "to keep the player in the driving seat of their character's evolution within their class."
"There are guardrails and limits on this page, like the abilities that are automatic," the blog post states. "And in addition, our intention in designing the trees is not to force players to make difficult choices to ensure a functional build; in reality, the goal is to create the trees with intuitive pathways that will lead you to sensible build options."
Talents higher in the tree will be more common, while those lower in the tree are more special and targeted at specific max-level builds. Talents or abilities with a lot of utility Blizzard expects to be the major parts of a specific class or specialization are easily discovered from the beginning of the talent trees , so they won't limit different build options.
Blizzard utilizes the blog post to address concerns players had about having to "re-buy" using talent points specific abilities that were baseline part of any given class in the last Shadowlands expansion. Blizzard states that it is hearing this feedback mostly as a concern with each class having "less equipment," but that it hopes players buy WOTLK Gold won't feel that way when they're handed an additional 61 talents points to work with how they'd like.
