He continues: "While the numbers and stats aren't the things that players love about MMOs but it's what the majority of fans stick to after exploring is over. Because it's so integral to what the longest term players' attention is it makes sense to make this a core part of the game's design with
OSRS Items. In addition, it's very compatible with the design elements that are common to many idle games."
He also drew inspiration from other MMOs However, the structure in RuneScape was one that he carefully followed, and he built out its world Melvor Idle as a parallel universe with the 20-year-old RPG. "RuneScape was an essential base for the game due to the fact that it was such a fundamental gaming experience for me" the author explains."
As most of us, I started playing RuneScape due to the fact that a majority of my acquaintances at the time was playing the game. Its being web-based is a large part of this. Its low barrier to entry with RuneScape's scalar depth and complexity are what kept me playing the game for quite a long time -- something that I wanted to recreate with Melvor Idle."
With Malcolm who was open about his inspiration it was soon reported to Jagex that the fan had developed a game based upon its own MMO. Staff members reported the matter to management, who subsequently approved it, with manager of product development Chris Pfeiffer telling us his team was impressed by "how much was achieved and how much of it was in line to RuneScape."
"The vision for Melvor Idle is also completely compatible with our core values about what constitutes the game a living one -- it's therefore a perfect match with us" He says. "Furthermore, the idea of giving someone from our local community this opportunity has really enthused everyone in the company."
Pfieffer along with his colleagues, tried Melvor Idle on their own and loved it enough that they reached for Malcolm Pfieffer to talk about the prospect of working together in the first quarter of 2021.
"From only our first interactions we found out that Brendan shares Jagex's vision for games with a community focus, and has done a fantastic job of building a strong and vibrant communities in the area of Melvor Idle with RS Gold. It's not often that you find this kind of natural match when you're looking at publishing possibilities, but Brendan and Melvor Idle are exactly that, and so we embraced the opportunity to be a part of his team and the game with all our heart.
