Many video games have given an ambitious developer the idea to create their own. But it's rare for an original work taken over by the company behind the original title Cheap OSRS Gold. However, this was the case with Brendan Malcolm, the one-man team of Australian developers Games By Malcs, whose idle RPG Melvor Idle is currently being released by Jagex who is the creator of RuneScape the game which was the primary motivation for his own game.
Melvor Idle strips away the visuals and 3D environments of RuneScape and other MMOs and reduces it to a purely menu-based idle game in which players can manage their skills, inventory , and quests. Activating combat encounters with a winning streak earns players XP and loot that can then be put into any level of skill tree or upgrade players choose, while repeating activities such as crafting or woodcutting yields their own benefits.
Malcolm has played RuneScape since he was a child as well as dabbled in a variety of popular idle games such as Clicker Heroes, Cookie Clicker and NGU Idle. While he enjoyed them but felt that the genre had the potential to do something that was more satisfying in a similar way to Jagex's top RPG.
"So I decided to challenge myself to design my own game in the dark, not knowing the possibility of it being released, or even become the kind of game that is so well-known," he tells rs 2007 gold. "I was trying to make something different from the standard idle game mould and something that had a lot of features and gave players actual choice about how they wanted to move forward rather than simply increasing numbers on a constant treadmill.
