It also meant that high-quality data could be recorded in FUT 22 Coins a live football match. Eaves states that the teams from Spain's third tier were selected because of their rivalry in the past. They're both professional, well-coached sides with an amazing technique. They play possession-based football with control, agility and precision. They're ideal for videogames because it's fast and fun.
EA's guidance was minimal, if any, other than briefing the players and coaching staff that it was an "must-win match." The game did not require an extra edge. Eaves recalls that players were contracted, so we could capture tired defenders or fresh forwards as the game progressed. "You could feel the animosity. There were too many fouls during the opening five minutes that it was exactly what we needed."
The off-the-ball actions such as shouting, pointing, posturing - were priceless for EA in capturing the physicality and intensity of a real-life sport. "If a stuntman slide tackles someone in a motion capture space the player is able to return and it's not as intense as the force of a real fight," explains Eaves. "In this game physicality is the main focus. When a player is up and gets angry, we take all of that intensity and put it in our game."
It was only by capturing 22 players in a span of 90 minutes that EA could create enough animated content, 8.75 million frames, to fuel its 'HyperMotion technology. Machine learning then kicks in. "Previously the moment an athlete is preparing to perform the next action - a shot, pass or dribble - we've picked an animated sequence from our database" Eaves explains. "But it doesn't know the context. This data teaches the network to blend animations.
However, how does the quest to be realistic affect a game which, ultimately reduces 90 minutes of football into ten minutes or less of play? "It's a positive," says FIFA YouTuber and streamer Chris Wood, aka Chesnoid Gaming. "The concept behind the sport video games is to recreate what you can see on cheap FIFA 22 Coins a regular basis in real life. The game comes to life. Instead of five-minute half-hours of a video game, it is more like five-minute half-times of a live football match."
