The top seed Wizards District Gaming and No. 3 Hornets Venom GT rolled to sweeps in the NBA 2K League's The Turn Tournament on Friday evening 2K MT. The $260,000 event, which is the second tournament in the regular season of the year, runs until Saturday. The tournament are played using a best-of-3 single elimination format. The winner will be awarded $117,000 and the second place $52,000.
In their first game, Wizards District Gaming jumped into a 20-5 lead following the first quarter . They beat Pistons GT 66-56, and in the rematch which they won 70-61, they advance to the tournament semifinals. John "JBM", Mascone was the leading of four Wizards District Gaming players scoring in double the number. He scored 20 points and nine assists. Ryan "Dayfri", Conger added additional points, 13 rebounds, and nine assists. JBM scored 31 points, and had 12 assists. Dayfri had 13 points and 12 boards.
Hornets Venom GT won the sweep at the expense NetsGC with a score of 82-7 and 82-72. Craig "rigby" Burnett Jr. led Hornets Venom GT with 27 points. Justin "Sherm" Sherman posted 18 points and 13 assists in the initial game. Sherm recorded 30 points in the second match, along with 11 assists while Peter "PeteBeBallin", Malin scored 23 points as well as nine boards.
The games on Friday included three-game sets. There was no. 13 Blazer5 Gaming won two of the three No. 12 Jazz Gaming won two of the three from No. No. 15 Heat Check Gaming also won two of the three matches in losing and winning streaks: beating No. 7 Kings Guard Gaming lost 74-65 to 7 Kings Guard Gaming Buy NBA 2K22 MT, then the team lost a close contest 64-62 to lose the game 74-71.
