This is classic...mana is essential. It's not an infinite dps bar as retail. This is the way that all traditional players would prefer. For the most part the mobs are supposed to WOW Classic TBC Gold be fairly similar to the player's power , at a minimum of 70%. It's true (played through all of the classic) TBC seems WAY easier and less punishing with mob damage and mana regen. Even leveling seems easier to me
This is a silly question, but, did you receive the hunter trainer quest pet? Hunter is among the easiest classes to level, probably THE most simple if you're new to the game which is because you've got pets that are subject to punishment from every mob and not your own character. And if you have a pet, then maybe he can't hold aggro? Keep in mind that when your pet is in the tank and you don't have the luxury of going to the max and hit every button to kill the mob, that means you'll be a tad too aggressive with your pet for sure. You must feel the rhythm of killing mobs alone. While it might seem slow, that's because WoW is designed to be slow. It's impossible to kill mobs on your own unless you use certain tricks like dungeon boost, which I don't recommend for novice players.
In my previous comment I would not recommend this if you're among the players who are able to fully immerse themselves in RPG's and not try to rush to finish your first ever character. But from what you say it doesn't seem like you're among them which is why, just as I and others have suggested, you should check out the add-on Questie I'm sure you will be able to find some tutorial on YT how to cheap TBC Classic Gold install it.
