iTrust was born out of the frustration of baby & child
gifting, and the realisation that investing is designed for the wealthy.
Giving gifts to kids and babies is difficult, most gifts are
just landfill in waiting, with an almost incalculable carbon footprint of
plastics. Which makes gifting money a logical long term option until you
consider the following:
– It is easy to give cash to be put in a bank account, but
the interest rate is barely above the inflation rate. Bad long term gift.
– Putting money in shares has multiple difficulties,
transfer of ownership is massive, and shares appear and disappear. eg. FAI and
National Mutual where blue chip 20 years ago, and now no longer exist. Best Savings Account

– Buying ETF’s has real problems, they never can out perform
the index, and often when banks fall, resource stocks have to be sold at a loss
and bought back at a premium. Additional to this, unless significant amounts
are being gifted, the investment will be eroded by trade fees.
– High quality funds are a great investment, but a major
problem is that the best performing funds, cost huge amounts to start with
(around $10,000-$50,000), and there are still the tax and transfer of ownership
regulations that need to be dealt with.
The clear lesson was that the investment market was not set
up for people with small amounts, and even less thought had been given to
giving an investment as a gift. Therefore we embarked on a long journey to work
out how to make high performing funds accessible at a low price point as a
gift. I wont bore you with the detail, but the road was long with many dead
ends until we cracked the formula that underpins iTrust. Friends and Family Investment
Additional to that, through our testing we found that we
were not the only ones who thought investing in a child’s future, so we added
the sharing function so all family and close friends can contribute to a single
account, thus reducing fees and increasing returns. Whether right or wrong,
children need a financial springboard for life, and we believe iTrust is the
best available savings and investment product for kids on the market. We hope
you enjoy!
