Batting practice is a little different these days at Chukchansi Park, says
Fresno Grizzlies manager Dan Rohn.
The Grizzlies' first-year hitting coach, Hensley Meulens, tweaked the pregame
ritual a tad, creating his own program to add more situational-hitting
scenarios.
In the past, the first round of batting practice was situational hitting,
Rohn said. Now it's situational the entire time -- except the final seven
swings.
"Sometimes guys go through the motions in BP," Grizzlies outfielder John Bowker
said. "Situational hitting makes you focus. It's more mental and makes it easier
in the game."
