Earlier Mayor of New York, Michael Bloomberg proposed to ban on merchants displaying e cigarettes on stores but he has now moved to a different agenda. It is being reported that the city council is going to hand the mayor a triumph by expanding the laws that govern tobacco products and put electronic cigarette in the same class. FDA electronic cigarettes regulations are yet to come and hence it has been quite unclear how electronic cigarettes should be handled. In a similar situation is New York where it is uncertain that what restriction or regulations should be imposed.

Vapor cigarette are battery powered and they give out pure scented vapor. It is also available in various nicotine strength e liquid including no nicotine e liquid. Since e cig do not contain tobacco and deliver nicotine through vapor, it is rather unclear how it can be put in the same category as regular tobacco cigarettes. But reports suggest that the city council may just raise the age restriction and increase the legal age of purchasing cigarettes from 18 to 21 because of fear of increased teenage smoking. Now if proposed regulations pass and electronic cigarette is treated as tobacco then the same age restriction ill applies to smokeless cigarettes as well.
