Have you seen those ads in 1990’s of people smoking
cigarettes? Those ads feature some of the top celebrities that endorse the
product. Now in 2013 you can see them again but the regular tobacco cigarettes
are replaced by electronic cigarettes. Experts from the e cigarette industry
had term it as re-glamorizing smoking and I completely agree with it. These ads
of some of the best
electronic cigarette brands of the industry reminds me of my
high-school days when they were quite popular on TV channels. I need to admit
that I was allured by one of these ads and starter smoking.
In current scenario the government is getting tough on such
things and thus the lawmakers are asking the government to ban electronic
cigarettes and their advertisement as they are alluring teenagers to try them.
I think that using top celebs to promote one product is common and is among the
tried and test promotional strategy adopted by the advertisers. Same thing is done by the manufacturer of the
electronic cigarette as well. I am happy that these manufacturers are making
some serious initiative in promoting their products but why are they targeting
the younger generation.
Celebs like Jenny McCarthy is appearing in one of the commercial
of top brand of electronic cigarette and praising it. I strongly these kinds of
star studded ads allure the youth to take on vaping or smoking. Another factor
that might add on to this fact is the availability of distinct flavors.
Different brands provides some of the out of the box flavors like cherry,
vanilla, etc which are attracts the younger generation to at least try it once.
One of the study shows that e cigarettes usage among middle and high school
students has increased over the last year.
Being a vaper of one of the top notch brand (Green
Smoke E Cigarette), I know that these electric cigarettes are made for
smoker to convert to vapers but not making a person a new smoker or a vaper.
