- NSW's charmed run of touring India but avoiding Indian teams has
continued for the second round of the Champions League
Twenty20.
Reigning Indian Premier League champion Deccan's inability to
defeat Trinidad & Tobago on Wednesday night sealed the
Chargers' exit from the tournament, which pleased Blues coach
Matthew Mott.
"I did think Deccan would be a very strong side and they proved
that they were. They lost two very tight games. But it is certainly
good not to have a team in our next stage which knows the
conditions any better than us," he said yesterday.
"Deccan, with their genuine match-winners in [Andrew] Symonds,
[Adam] Gilchrist and Rohit Sharma ... can just take the match away
from you without even playing that poorly. That's not to
underestimate Trinidad; they're playing a great brand of
attacking-style cricket and they'll still be an exceptionally big
challenge for us."
