Beenie Man dances his way to the kingdom

"Kingston native Beenie man finally receives his official crown, King of the Dancehall.
 
The concept isn’t new. As far as we knew Beenie Man had already crowned himself King of the Dancehall with his 2004 hit titled just that. Plus we’ve been jamming to his Caribbean beats since “Who Am I” hit airwaves in the late ’90s. But Jamaica had to make it official.
 
This past weekend at the 2009 Reggae Sumfest in Montego Bay, Jamaica, veteran dancehall queen Lady Saw presented Beenie Man with the award in front of 30,000 people during his performance. And what did the award consist of? A crown and a royal purple robe, of course…along with a lifetime of official bragging rights."
