Barbados Women’s Volleyball team saved their best for last when they
defeated the previously undefeated Jamaican team 3-2 in the thrilling
finale of the FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship – 2nd Round

In front of a very supportive home crowd at the Garfield Sobers Sports
Complex on Sunday, the Bajan lasses played their best game of the
competition, to defeat a gutsy Jamaican side 25-14, 25-23, 22-25,
23-25, 15-8.
Tournament MVP Julia Lewis and Avara Brown led Barbados with 14 points
each, while Thonya Joseph contributed 13 points. Team captain Janelle
Chase-Mayers had a good night as well with 10 points including five
blocks. Barbados had 11 service points, four of which came from setter
Afiya Taylor whose low serves had the Jamaican front court fumbling to
