EstHer Ebanks had grown weary of waiting for the boxing facility in memory of her late husband Dunstan Dalmain Ebanks, but her prayers were answered recently with the opening of a new boxing gym at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex.

The then Minister of Sport Hon Alden McLaughlin opened the facility after seven months of construction, which comprises some 5,700 square feet and is equipped with training gear to accommodate 25 athletes at any one time. The facility can also accommodate 500 spectators for demonstration fights.

According to Mr McLaughlin, the sport has struggled against many odds in its 50 years of existence in the Cayman Islands.
