The near complete Public Safety Communications Network, which will equip the nation with the highest possible security standards in Emergency 911 services, was unveiled yesterday.

Dr. Edmond Mansoor, minister for information, broadcasting and telecommunications at a press conference at Parliament buildings where the network is based, explained the scope of ?one of the largest investments by government in the safety of the citizenry of Antigua and Barbuda? and the developments the system represents in terms of enhanced public safety.

He said the Ministry of Justice and Public Safety piloted the programme and the Cabinet mandated the Ministry for Information, Broadcasting and Telecommunications to hold overall responsibility for the operation of the project.
