Details revealed on Rihanna and Chris Brown's new love song
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/music_blog/2009/03/rihanna-and-chr.html - Multi-platinum-selling record producer Polow da Don has exclusively confirmed to The Times that he has been in the studio recently with Rihanna and Chris Brown, recording an as-yet-untitled love song that is scheduled to appear on Brown's new album later this year.
Polow (government name: Polow-Freache Jamal Fincher Jones) -- who has crafted hits for a constellation of hip-hop and R&B stars including Ludacris, the Pussycat Dolls, Rich Boy and Ciara -- issued the following statement to The Times:
"My heart goes out to both Chris Brown and Rihanna regarding what happened in the past. I enjoyed working with both of them. I think they are both great musical artists."
He declined to shed any more light on the recording process.
But a self-described "friend" -- a source close to the producer who asked not to be named due to the sensitive nature of legal proceedings against Brown -- provided more details:
• Polow da Don wrote the lyrics and music for the R&B-flavored song prior to Brown's Feb. 8 arrest. It was originally intended as a single for Rihanna, with a remix featuring Brown as a later roll-out.
• After the altercation, however, the producer urged the two singers to perform the song as a duet and they agreed. The source said the song's lyrics deal with love's "trials and tribulations, the way love is complicated and blind" in a way that seemed to speak directly to the couple's situation.
• Recording took place in Los Angeles at some point in the last month, although the source was not exactly sure when.
Polow da Don has worked with Brown in the past, most recently on his song "Superhuman (featuring Keri Hilson)," which was released in the fall. The producer is scheduled to speak more about his experience working with Brown and Rihanna on the "Dr. Phil" show Wednesday afternoon. Read More...
